NILES, Illinois — The Northridge varsity soccer team begins its postseason run Tuesday evening in the IHSA Class 2A Regional Tournament, taking on #6 seeded Grayslake North at Cristo Rey St. Martin in Waukegan. The matchup marks Northridge's first-ever appearance in the 2A playoffs after last year's historic journey to the IHSA 1A Super-Sectional.

This year also marks a new chapter for the program under first-year head coach Cory Jensen, who has led the Knights to an impressive 11-4 overall record and a 5-2 finish in their debut season competing in the highly competitive Chicagoland Christian Conference. Northridge enters the postseason as the #11 seed in their sub-sectional, but they've shown throughout the year that they can compete with — and defeat — top-ranked opponents.

Among the season's highlights was a commanding 2-0 victory at Latin, showcasing the Knights' trademark defensive discipline and ball control. But perhaps the most defining moment of the regular season came in their finale — a thrilling 3-2 win over sectional #1 seed St. Viator on the road in Arlington Heights.

In that matchup, Keller Karnes, Marty Mullen, and Gabriel Villegas each scored to lead Northridge in a back-and-forth battle that served as a statement win heading into the playoffs. The victory provided a major boost of confidence as the Knights now prepare for the heightened intensity of postseason play.
