Robert Rey '10

Coach Rey was named the Athletic Director at Northridge in 2025. Coach Rey has also been a varsity basketball assistant coach since 2014. Prior to his role in administration, Coach Rey taught History and Theology at Northridge from 2020-2025. For four years from 2016-2020, he served as Northridge’s Admissions Director. Besides coaching high school basketball, for one season he was head coach of the 8th grade Northridge school and feeder basketball teams.

Coach Rey is a 2010 Northridge graduate. As a 3-year starter on the varsity basketball team, he received 3rd Team All-State honors as a junior and 2nd Team All-State honors as a senior. In addition, he is one of five Northridge players in school history to score over 1,000 career points. Moreover, he holds Northridge records for career 3-pointers made (264), best single-season 3-point percentage (50%), career 3-point percentage (44%), and holds the distinction of being one of a handful of players in state basketball history to make five 3-pointers in the same number of attempts in an IHSA Sectional game.

Coach Rey is the only player in Northridge history to score a 3-pointer in 4 consecutive Regional Championship games and to start on three successive Regional Championship teams from 2008-2010. During his varsity career, he made one ”Sweet 16” appearance, won one ISL conference championship (2009), one Holiday tournament (Grant Christmas Tournament, 2008), and at the time a school-best season record of 24-6 in 2008-2009.

After graduating from Northridge in 2010, Coach Rey attended the University of Notre Dame, where he studied history and business economics. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2014. Coach Rey also earned a Master of Arts in teaching at North Park University in 2022.

Coach Rey and his wife, Simone, have three children.
