NILES, Illinois — For the first time in Northridge history, three Knights golfers have individually qualified for the IHSA State Tournament in the same year. Junior Tommy Svanascini led the way with a strong round of 77 to finish tied for sixth, while fellow junior Chris Carney and sophomore Brenden Sherman each carded a 79 to tie for 11th and punch their tickets to state. The trio's steady play throughout the sectional marked a defining moment for a program that continues to rise in Illinois high school golf.

Svanascini's season-long consistency set the tone early, while Carney and Sherman showed poise down the stretch to secure their qualifying spots. The Knights' balanced performance reflected the depth and discipline that have become trademarks of Northridge Golf under head coach Joe Egan, who praised his players' focus in a pressure-packed environment.

"I am so proud of Tommy, Chris, and Brenden," Egan said. "The effort they have put forth over the last 11 months to get to this point is jaw dropping. They each averaged over 800 holes played in the off season, which was one goal we set. It's nice to see a direct correlation between hard work and success on the course. The sky is the limit for these guys and I can't wait to coach them at state on a course we know well. I look forward to having them back on a very strong team again next year."

The Knights will now turn their attention to the IHSA State Finals, where Svanascini, Carney, and Sherman will represent Northridge on the biggest stage in Illinois high school golf. The State Finals tee off this weekend (Oct. 10 & 11) at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington, IL.
