Kipp Sets 1600m School Record, Continues Historic Senior Season

NILES, Ill. — Northridge senior Peter Kipp added another milestone to his decorated career, setting a new school record in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:17. The mark represents a drop of more than 30 seconds from his freshman-year best (4:52) and establishes a new program standard in the event. Kipp's performance comes in at second in IHSA 2A and 13th overall in the state.

Kipp's record performance comes as part of a standout senior campaign that also included All-State honors at the IHSA State Track and Field Championships, where he placed eighth in the 1600 meters. He also contributed to Northridge's 4x800 relay team that earned All-State recognition with a second-place finish in 2025, marking back-to-back podium finishes for the relay.

A four-year varsity athlete, Kipp has been one of the most consistent distance runners in program history. He is a four-time All-State performer in cross country, finishing in the top 25 at the state meet each season from 2022–2025, including an 18th-place finish as a junior (15:11.9). His career progression from a 17:12 freshman to one of the top runners in the state highlights his sustained development.

In addition to the 1600m record, Kipp holds multiple school records, including the indoor and outdoor 3200 meters, the outdoor two-mile (9:36.14), and the 1500 meters (4:10.87). He enters the 2026 outdoor season as one of the most accomplished distance runners in Knights history.
