NILES, Illinois — For the first time in program history, Northridge's varsity baseball team has earned the No. 1 seed in its IHSA Class 2A Sub-Sectional bracket, setting the stage for what they hope is another exciting postseason run.
Sitting on a 15-14 record against a challenging schedule filled with Class 3A and 4A opponents, the Knights have surged into playoff form, currently riding a five-game win streak. That stretch includes back-to-back convincing wins over longtime rival North Shore Country Day, closing out Northridge's final season in the Independent School League on a high note. The Knights will close out the regular season this week with a pair of games against Francis Parker, including a Friday matchup in what will be the program's five seniors' final home game at Maryville.
The Knights begin their playoff journey on May 21 at Lisle in the regional semifinals, where they'll face No. 8 seed Chicago Academy at 4:00 p.m. A win would advance Northridge to the regional final against the winner of No. 4 Lisle and No. 6 Clark, with the regional champion moving on to the Sectional round hosted by Chicago Hope Academy.
This historic seeding follows last year's breakthrough season, when Northridge captured its first-ever IHSA Regional Championship with a thrilling win over IC Catholic.
Now, with a top seed and surging momentum, the Knights aim to make even more history in the weeks ahead.
