NILES, Illinois — The Northridge wrestling program turned in a strong performance at the IHSA Regional meet, advancing three wrestlers to sectionals after a competitive day on the mat.
Leading the way was George McShane (144 lbs), who captured the regional championship in his weight class. McShane put together an outstanding tournament and continues a stellar season in which he holds an impressive 30–10 overall record.
Joining him in advancing were Javi Rodriguez (150 lbs) and Mike Magallon (106 lbs), each finishing third place in their respective weight classes to secure sectional berths. Both wrestlers battled through tough brackets and delivered when it mattered most.
This year's regional meet proved especially challenging for Coach Joe Rhee's group, as Northridge recently moved up to Class 2A, facing a deeper and more competitive field. Despite the increased difficulty, the Knights rose to the occasion and earned multiple advancements.
With momentum from regionals, Northridge now turns its focus to the sectional round, where McShane, Rodriguez, and Magallon will look to continue their postseason run and represent the Knights at a high level.
